What a great weekend!
We had terrific spring weather this weekend - the first one we have been able to spend outside in a long time. On Saturday we started our day at Marge's Donut Den...of course. Actually, funny story...
Aidan had to turn in his spring school picture money quite a while ago, and I neglected to make a note of the picture day. I didn't bother because they send home so many reminders beforehand. Then Aidan missed school almost all of the last full week in March because he was sick. So I naturally didn't get any of those reminders, and forgot that picture day was Monday. Aidan got up, took a bath and got dressed and everything on his own on Monday, as usual. When he got home from school, he happened to mention it was picture day...and he was wearing his Marge's Donut Den t-shirt. Not what we would have chosen, but we'll be sure to give Marge one of his school pictures, anyway!
After ruining our appetites for lunch at Marge's, we visited Mr. DeJong in Lowell, and then visited a while with Grandma Margie at her house. Although she has an infection in one of the incisions from her surgery, it is being treated and she is otherwise doing well. We took Grandma out for ice cream at Ball's Softee Creme in Lowell - on their opening day! The signs of spring are out in full force - Houseman's and Ball's are both open for the season, and I have an itchy rash on my hands and arms. Spring must be here!
We also had a terrific time at Jordan's birthday party - and played outside a lot! It is a big blessing to have such great friends as the Dennie family. We always have a good time hanging out with them. Aidan, Esme and Livi had a blast playing outdoors on the trampoline and swingset - and indoors playing Mario Kart. Happy 13th birthday, Jordan!
Today Esme got her first two-wheeler (with training wheels). She is still learning how to use the back-pedal brakes - her instinct is to drag her feet on the ground to stop, but she can't reach the ground with her feet...so she can't stop, which causes her to panic and fall down. Oh, well, a little practice and she'll be pedaling around with the rest of us.
